Rod Stewart leaves Celtic fans stunned as crooner pays tribute to Boris Johnson

Sir Rod Stewart is feeling the heat from Celtic supporters after the legendary singer appeared to endorse Boris Johnson.

The 74-year-old Hoops diehard has been home and abroad following the team he loves this season and the Hotline regular was in Rome to watch the historic win over Lazio in the Europa League last month.

But Celtic fans had to do a double take when Sir Rod paid tribute to the Prime Minister in a social media post after he secured top spot in the album charts.

Stewart wrote on Twitter: "Thank you once again to my legions of fans who I will never take for granted.

"Bless you all and a Merry Christmas. Well done Robbie, well done Boris, no hard feelings Pete Townshend! - Rod xxx."

Johnson raced to a comprehensive election victory but the Tories' policies didn't as they lost seven seats in total with the SNP enjoying a bounce back from 2017.

Despite his popularity south of the border, a recent YouGov poll revealed two thirds of Scottish voters believe the Conservative leader to be untrustworthy.

And Celtic supporters weren't shy in letting Sir Rod know their thoughts on his BoJo approval.

Ross Logan wrote: "Don’t ever want tae see you wearing Celtic slippers again Rod."

Rambo67 added: "Some reception your going to get next time you're at Parkhead."

Cautious Dave replied: "Rod, I’m not going to give you any abuse but you have to realise that Celtic is more than a football club.

"You are totally out of tune with the ethos of the club. Don’t be surprised when you’re no longer welcomed by rank and file supporters."

Space Frog said: "Thanking Boris? From hero to zero just like that."

Jaza3010 said: "My son, a season ticket holder, went to all the early rounds but was unlucky in the ballot and never got a ticket. Yet Rod rocks up at all the finals like he’s Celtics biggest fan. Now he’s praising Bojo. Really going off this guy."
