Rod Stewart in Scott Brown Celtic statue plea as he quips 'see you in two years as boss'

Rod Stewart wants Celtic to build a Scott Brown statue in time for the captain to return as manager "in two years".

The Parkhead diehard has paid tribute to the departing skipper as he prepares to line up in a derby clash with Rangers for the final time.

Legendary musician Stewart told Brown "love you, mate" as he called for an eternal tribute to the midfielder outside Celtic Park.

And with the 35-year-old off to Aberdeen as player-coach, the singer-songwriter confidently predicted he'll be back in Glasgow sooner rather than later.

He told Sky Sports on Brown: "True soldier, true Celtic. I would hope we have a statue maybe outside the stadium.

"He’s just a lovely guy and it’s so hard to come up with words to describe Scott.

"Scott's time at Celtic, he's been... he's Celtic through and through.

"I mean, he's just a wonderful player, a wonderfully aggressive player. He's the anchor of Celtic and he will be on Sunday.

"Well done, Scott. I love you, mate, and best of luck over at Aberdeen and we'll see you in two years back as manager of Celtic!"
