Rod Stewart in hilarious Burns Night video as rockers calls himself 'favourite Cockney Scotsman'

Rod Stewart celebrated Burns Night in style sporting lots of tartan in his home bar.

Taking to social media to share the celebrations, the 78-year-old posted a video on his Instagram alongside his son Liam. The bar were dressed head to toe in tartan to cheers fans celebrating the Scottish tradition.

Branding himself "your favourite Cockney Scotsman" in the clip, the Maggie May singer explained that he used to celebrate the day with his father. And he is certainly keeping the family tradition going alongside 28-year-old hockey player Liam. Captioning the clip "Wishing you all a very happy Burns Night!", Sir Rod shared the sweet message, reminding fans how proud he is of his Scottish roots.

Speaking to his 1.2million followers, the star said: "Hello everybody, happy Burns Night! This is Rod Stewart and his son Liam.

"We used to celebrate Burns Night with my dad and I want you to have a great night.

"This is your favourite Cockney Scotsman, wish you a happy Burns Night."

Before the clip ended, Rod and Liam are seen standing in the dark and all the lights switched off.

But the issue simply provided the rocker with an opportunity to make a wee joke about the sky high energy prices.

"Hello? What's happening. Didn't we pay the electric bill? All the lights have gone off!" He added as the pair were plunged into darkness.

Rod fans were quick to respond, replying with similar well wishes.

One said, "Happy Burns night too…just had a nice tasty Haggis and a wee dram and listening to some Scottish tunes", with another writing "Happy Burns night Clan Stewart".

Another funny fan changed the lyrics of one of Rod's famous songs to match the light failure situation, they commented: "Wake up Maggy I think I need someone to change the fuuuuuse"
