Rod Stewart blows out candle as he celebrates 'lovely' 78th birthday with family

Rod Stewart celebrated his 78th birthday in style surrounded by his loved ones.

The Maggie May singer took to social media to share a video of him singing along to Happy Birthday, before blowing out the candle on a strawberry.

Rod was beaming as he held a plate with the words 'Happy Birthday' written in what looked to be melted chocolate with a strawberry and candle at the side.

As well as his fans across the world, Rod's wife Penny Lancaster paid a sweet tribute to the football-daft rock star. Sharing a photo of the two at Parkhead Football Stadium, she wrote: "Happy Birthday you Celtic mad one. Love you."

The father of eight delighted fans with his hilarious reaction to his daughter Ruby's gender reveal. Earlier this week, Rod had his fans in stitches after he announced his daughter Ruby was set to welcome a baby boy.

But in typical Rod fashion, he couldn't help but mention his beloved Celtic during the gender reveal.

Ruby announced the lovely news on Instagram, she wrote: "Out of all of the things that happened in 2022 you were by far the most beautiful…We can’t wait to meet you…Baby boy Kalick coming in April…", however her rocker dad was given the honour of announcing the gender to their whole family during a get-together.

In the clip, the 77-year-old can be seen tearing open an envelope which contained the baby's gender inside before announcing, "It's a boy!" He can then be seen celebrating with his family before chanting "Mon the Celtic" then going on to sing a tune "welcome to the Stewart family".

This happy news for the Stewart clan comes after Rod said goodbye to his two brothers, Don and Bob, last year. The funeral for his big brother Bob took place in early January, and the star paid a heartfelt tribute to his late sibling on social media.

He wrote: "I said Farewell to my Brother Bob today, with his coffin draped in a Rangers flag (life long Glasgow Rangers fan). We loved our game days up in Scotland together. Now he joins Brother Don, rest in peace boys. Two of my best mates gone within just a few months."
