Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster donate teapot for 'lifesaving' children in need charity

Sir Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have donated their "favourite teapot" to an international children's charity that aims to help clef-effected kids find a solution and live a happier life.

The Maggie May rocker and his wife, 52, hope as their adoring crockery goes to auction that it can aid towards funding "lifesaving treatment for cleft-affected children in need around the world."

The 78-year-old Celtic-daft legend announced the news with his 1.2 million followers on his social media page on Wednesday. It comes after the pair recently also promoted a signed Celtic strip to shed light on a football charity for disadvantaged kids.

British singer Rod wrote on Instagram: "Fancy a cuppa? We’ve donated our favourite teapot to @SmileTrainUK’s celebri-TEA auction, to help fund lifesaving treatment for cleft-affected children in need around the world.

"The auction launched today to mark the start of Smile Train’s annual fundraiser, the #BigSmileTeaParty – which encourages people to donate the cost of a cuppa and host a tea party with friends and family, raising vital funds that will change a child's life forever.

"Check out the link in my bio to get bidding and help change the world, one smile at a time!"

A cleft lip happens if the tissue that makes up the lip does not join completely before birth which results in an opening in the upper lip.

The opening in the lip can be a small slit or it can be a large opening that goes through the lip into the nose. Most youngsters who develop this have difficulties eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking.

People rushed to the comments to praise Rod and his wife Penny for raising funds for such a good cause.

"If I had a lot of money some of it would go to SmileTrain. In most cases, a simple operation with life changing results!," said one user.

One person said: "The Best songwriter, now with his wife giving to a lifesaving gift to children. Bless you."

"If I had a lot of money some of it would go to SmileTrain. In most cases, a simple operation with life changing results!," quipped another fan.

Another said: "You ROCK my world!"

"So very proud of you, Mr. Stewart & your lovely wife. Round of applause," remarked another as fans pointed out they loved his hair.
