Rockliff's Power move from Lions confirmed

Brisbane Lions midfielder Tom Rockliff will pull on a Port Adelaide guernsey next season, after his anticipated move to the Power was confirmed this afternoon.

The 27-year-old former Brisbane captain and restricted free agent has accepted a four-year deal with the Power.

The club said the Lions did not match its offer to Rockliff, allowing the move to proceed.

"I met with Ken Hinkley, Travis Boak and some other key people at Port Adelaide after the season and was really impressed," Rockliff said in a statement released by the Power.

"I think the club can be great for me as a footballer and I think I have a lot to offer the club too.

"Port Adelaide is coming off a strong season and everyone is optimistic about what we can achieve in 2018."

The rugged onballer, who hails from Benalla in rural Victoria, was selected by Brisbane in the 2009 pre-season draft.

He played 154 games for the Lions, including under former head coach Michael Voss, who has since moved to the Power.

Rockliff's move will bolster the Power's midfield stocks, and comes after the departure of Jackson Trengove to the Western Bulldogs and the retirements of Nathan Krakouer and Angus Monfries.

"He's an elite ball-winner, a good decision maker and is versatile with his ability to impact in the midfield and up forward," said Power list manager Jason Cripps.

"Tom is a recognised and experienced leader who will provide invaluable direction on-field, [he] had several options and we're pleased he chose us.

"We're confident Tom and the club will work together and in time prove this was the right decision."
