Rockets to sign Terrence Jones to 10-day contract

The Houston Rockets are preparing to sign power forward Terrence Jones to a 10-day contract, Tim MacMahon of ESPN reports. Jones was selected No. 18 overall by the Rockets in the 2012 NBA Draft and played four seasons in Houston. He was a member of the team as recently as 2016 before an injury-plagued season derailed his career trajectory.

As MacMahon notes, Jones has been a force for the Erie Bayhawks of the NBA G League this season, averaging 23.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game. Still only 27 years old, he could see a career revival in time.

With the addition of Jones and G League guard Chris Chiozza on 10-day deals, the Rockets have reached the minimum 14 rostered players required by league rules. And, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, they did so while remaining under the luxury tax threshold.
