Rockets show support for Astros as World Series begins in Houston

With Major League Baseball’s 2019 World Series starting Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston, the Rockets offered a new round of Astros’ support on social media.

It certainly doesn’t come as a huge surprise, given that star Rockets players including James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and P.J. Tucker were all in attendance for Saturday’s clinching Game 6 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) in Houston.

That game, of course, was punctuated by second baseman Jose Altuve’s dramatic walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, which sent the Astros to the World Series as AL champions for the second time in three years. Prior to this run, the Astros had won a league pennant just one time in the franchise’s first 55 years.

Given Houston’s current wave of baseball fever, the Rockets used social media channels to show their excitement before Tuesday’s Game 1 versus the National League champion Washington Nationals:

The Rockets concluded their preseason schedule last Friday, and the 2019-20 NBA regular season doesn’t begin for Houston until this Thursday’s opener at home versus the Milwaukee Bucks.

So with Game 1 and Game 2 of the World Series set for Tuesday and Wednesday nights and in the middle of an idle six-day period with no basketball games, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if even more Rockets are seen supporting the hometown baseball team from the Minute Maid Park stands over the next two days.
