Rockets set playoffs record with 28 three-point attempts in first half

The Houston Rockets set a playoffs record on Sunday by attempting 28 shots from three-point range in the first half of Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Golden State Warriors.

Of the 28 shots, the Rockets made just nine of them for 32.1 percent shooting.

Houston started ice cold in the first quarter of the game, going just one-of-14. But then they went eight-of-14 on threes in the 2nd quarter to tie the game at the half.

At halftime, the Rockets were tied with the Warriors, 53-53.

The Warriors were five-of-nine (55.6 percent) from downtown in the first half.

When the Rockets beat the Utah Jazz in five games in the first round of the playoffs this season, they officially had attempted 30 or more 3-pointers in each of their last 31 playoff games — the longest such streak in NBA postseason history by 16 games.

The Rockets are one of the most prolific three-point teams in the NBA.

In a 149-113 win over the Phoenix Suns in April, they drilled 27 shots from beyond the arc to break their own NBA single-game record.
