Rockets looking for sign-and-trade options for Iman Shumpert, Nene

The Houston Rockets are always looking for ways to improve the team and help them make their run to an NBA title. General manager Daryl Morey is always out there searching for the next move to put more talent around the superstar duo Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

The Rockets recently waived both Deyonta Davis and Chris Chiozza in order to clear up some more roster spots and now the idea is to get some value in exchange for their free agents.

According to HoopsHype, the Rockets are attempting to use Iman Shumpert and Nene in sign-and-trade options.

The Rockets have explored sign-and-trade options with their free agents — notably Iman Shumpert and Nene — but so far haven’t been able to get the wheels turning.

Shumpert was acquired from the Sacramento Kings in a deadline deal and he averaged 4.6 points and shot 29.6 percent from deep as he struggled to find his role for the Rockets. Houston should be able to get value for a guy like him, but with his recent down play as of late, nothing has been able to come to fruition.

Nene only played in 42 games and averaged 3.6 points and 2.9 rebounds. At age 36, it would be tough to see a team give up anything of value for him.
