Rockets launch regular ‘Flashback Friday’ promo with classic uniforms

Beginning with tonight’s home game against the Indiana Pacers, the Houston Rockets are launching a “Flashback Friday” promotion in which the team will wear its new “Classic” jerseys in Friday games.

Here’s how the retro uniforms are described, via the team’s website:

The new ketchup-and-mustard colored “Classic” jersey celebrates 25 seasons since the Rockets went back-to-back after winning the 1994-95 NBA Championship. The colors and design of the uniform are the same as that historic season, but the jersey and shorts will be made with current performance material. The uniform will be worn only for the upcoming season and showcases a contrast in style with the uniforms of today. Some of the most notable differences are the original U-shaped neckline and the lack of a team logo on the belt line.

Former Rockets guard Vernon Maxwell, who played parts of six seasons (including both the 1993-94 and 1994-95 championship years) in Houston, will be at Toyota Center for Friday’s game and the launch of the new jerseys. He’ll be signing autographs in the concourse and taking the ceremonial “First Shot” before the game tips off.

Houston will also debut a new “City” jersey on Saturday, Nov. 30 in a home game against the Atlanta Hawks. Unlike recent years, the City uniforms for the 2019-20 season will not feature Chinese lettering. The Rockets are then scheduled to wear that City set in all Saturday games for the remainder of the season, home and away.

The City uniform set has yet to be publicly released.
