Jan. 16--James Harden, the all-star shooting guard for the Houston Rockets, has purchased a Houston home formerly owned by former Rocket and Clipper Cuttino Mobley for about $2 million.
The Mediterranean-style residence, built in 2002, sits at the end of a gated drive inside the Royal Oaks Country Club with wide views of the Fred Couples-designed signature golf course.
Entered through a foyer with a sweeping staircase, the formal floor plan opens to a living room with raised ceilings and a stone fireplace. Spanning three stories, the 7,100 square feet of living space includes a library with custom built-ins, a center-island kitchen, four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
Among the highlight amenities is a game room and a theater room. The master retreat sports a fireplace, a study, walk-in closets and a large soaking tub.
Outdoors, the half-acre grounds center on an infinity pool and a separate spa. An outdoor fireplace and a built-in barbecue complete the resort-like setting.
Mobley, who began his career in Houston and played 11 seasons for the Rockets, Magic, Kings and Clippers, purchased the property in 2001 and owned the home until last year, records show.
Pamela McVaugh of McVaugh Realty Inc. represented both the buyer and seller in the sale.
Harden, now in his sixth season, leads the NBA in scoring with 26.9 points per game. He currently ranks third among Western Conference guards in the all-star voting, trailing Stephen Curry and Kobe Bryant.
