Rockets fall to fourth seed, will face Jazz in Round 1

After the Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves were unable to hang on to double-digit leads in the last day of the regular season, the Houston Rockets will now fall to the fourth seed in the Western Conference. Houston had an opportunity to capture the second seed last night with a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, but squandered a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter.

The Rockets will now face the Utah Jazz in round one of the NBA Playoffs. The Jazz have been a favorable matchup for the Rockets over the past two seasons. Houston has a 11-2 record over them that spans over the playoffs. The Jazz are a better team than what they were last year, so it should be interesting to see if they will pose a greater threat to Houston than they did last year.

It’s unfortunate for Houston that things didn’t fall their way, but it’s important to remember that they controlled their own destiny up until the final day of the season.
