Rockets at Mavs: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Tuesday’s game between the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks is the first meeting this season of the in-state rivals, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ve got the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on Tipico Sportsbook.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. Central and can be viewed or streamed via AT&T SportsNet Southwest and NBA League Pass.

The Mavericks are coming off an 8-point win at Toronto on Saturday, while the Rockets lost by 10 to Boston on Sunday. Neither team is on a back-to-back scenario on either end, so key players should be fresh.

Houston is led by a young backcourt of rookie Jalen Green and third-year point guard Kevin Porter Jr., with each hoping to develop into one of the NBA’s elite guards over time. In this one, they’ll match up with Luka Doncic — a superstar talent who has already made that leap.

Rockets at Mavs lineups, notable injuries:

For the Rockets, John Wall (out) is the only name currently listed on the team’s injury/status report. The five-time All-Star is sitting out as part of a mutually agreed-upon plan not to play this season. Similarly, the Mavs also have no injuries to report, according to their game notes.

  • Point spread: Mavericks -10.5
  • Money line: Rockets +500 / Mavericks -750
  • Over-under: 221.5 points

Advice and prediction

The Rockets could be a more lively underdog than most think. Porter and Christian Wood were outstanding in Friday’s blowout win over Oklahoma City, but Green struggled with his 3-point shot. Two nights later, Green scored a career-high 30 points and set a Rockets rookie record with eight made 3-pointers (on only 10 attempts), but Wood and Porter shot just 10-of-26 from the field combined (38.5%) against the Celtics.

At some point, Houston should be due for a game in which all three of those big names are efficient on the same night. It still may not be enough to win on the road against a perennial playoff team like the Mavericks, but it could make for a slightly closer game than expected. In addition, Green’s “total points” number of 13.5 is arguably a bit soft due to his cold-shooting start (which isn’t sustainable, as evidenced by Sunday’s showing), so consider betting the over on that prop.

Prediction: Mavericks 112, Rockets 104
