Rockets assign Gary Clark to Rockets’ G League Team

The Houston Rockets announced Saturday that forward Gary Clark would be assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the team’s G league affiliate.

Clark, 24, had been recalled from the Vipers on March 7th and had fallen out of Houston’s rotation as of late. With Iman Shumpert getting healthy again, the need for Clark to play significant minutes had faded. It also didn’t help Clark’s cause that the team had recently converted forward Danuel House from his two-way contract to a standard rest-of-the-season contract on Tuesday.

House started in Houston’s Sunday night game against the Phoenix Suns and had 18 points on 6 for 11 shooting from the field and 4 of 8 shooting from three-point range. With House’s addition, the Rockets’ forward rotation actually has significant depth for the first time all season. Behind House, P.J. Tucker, Iman Shumpert, and Gerald Green, it’s tough to see where Clark could find his way into minutes this season.

Clark has started in five G League games this season, averaging 12.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on an efficient 58.2% true shooting.
