If you haven't had your appetite whetted for biopics of classic movie icons like Bohemian Rhapsody, then you're in luck as the director who stepped in to finish that film, Dexter Fletcher, is bringing us another biopic.
Elton John is the icon this time around to get the Hollywood treatment, in Rocketman, which will follow the early days of John at the Royal Academy of Music and musical partnership with songwriter Bernie Taupin, as he is catapulted to stardom despite personal troubles in his life.
It has been described as being Rocketman will be warts ’n’ all biopic revealing Elton John's wild lifestyle in its examination of John's life.
Kingsman star Taron Egerton will take on the role of John for the film, while we can also expect to see Mr Billy Elliott himself, Jamie Bell, as Taupin.
So when exactly can we expect to see Rocketman in cinemas?

Rocketman UK release date
Rocketman is released in UK cinemas on May 24, 2019.
US cinemas can expect the film a little later on May 31, 2019.
The film will premiere at Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2019, at a special out of competition gala screening.

The Bodyguard star plays the role of John's manager and lover, John Reid.

Rocketman plot
Described as a musical fantasy, Rocketman tells the story of Elton John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin, as well as his struggles with depression, substance abuse, and acceptance of his sexual orientation.
The musician's relationship with his mother Sheila Eileen and romantic relationship with manager John Reid will also receive focus.
