Two Welsh actors have been shortlisted for Oscars in the 92nd Academy Awards, it was revealed today - but hotlly-tipped Rocketman star Taron Egerton has missed out.
Jonathan Pryce is in the running for the Best Actor title for his role in The Two Popes while his co-star Anthony Hopkins is given a nod for Best Supporting Actor.
But last week's Golden Globe Best Actor winner Egerton, who was raised in Aberystwyth, has missed out on being shortlisted, despite receiving plaudits galore for his lead role in the Elton John biopic.
Pryce and Hopkins will now be hoping for success when the 2020 Academy Awards take place in Hollywood on Sunday, February 9.

Pryce will go up against Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory) , Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood), Adam Driver (Marriage Story) and Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) for Best Actor.

While Hopkins, who previously won an Oscar for his iconic role as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, Hopkins is nominated alongside Tom Hanks (A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood), Brad Pitt (Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood), Al Pacino (The Irishman) and Joe Pesci (The Irishman) in the Supporting Actor category.
This is the second time Hopkins has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor, the first being for Amistad in 1998, and he was also nominated for Best Actor for The Remains of the Day in 1994 and Nixon in 1996.
