Rocket Watts moving into Michigan State next week

Mark “Rocket” Watts Jr. is probably the most hyped prospect coming in. While I am very excited to see Malik Hall and Julius Marble, who have more size and each have some skills I’m interested to see, Watts is one of the most talented offensive players Izzo has ever recruited and I am absolutely thrilled that he is joining the program this fall. Well, the Rocket Watts era officially kicks off next week as it was just revealed at the Moneyball Pro-Am that he is cleared to come to Michigan State.

“Coach Iz (Tom Izzo) has been recruiting me since my ninth grade year, really eighth grade,” Watts said Thursday. “I know he’ll be hard on me, and I just can’t wait to get up here. It’s a great program. I just love Michigan State.”

This is great news for MSU fans, as there was some “chatter” around Watts skipping college to play overseas, which Watts quickly dispelled.

“It was rumors about me going overseas,” said Watts. “I was just trying to get my schoolwork done because at SPIRE, my coach left early. I got that through, and I’ll be up next week.”
