Rocker Bret Michaels buys a fancy place with elbow room in Westlake Village

May 27--When we last left rock star Bret Michaels he was putting his Calabasas crib up for sale because he wanted a place with more acreage, room to breathe, a spread if you will.

Well he's landed one in Westlake Village for $3.49 million.

Encompassing 2.6 acres, the custom estate centers on a Mediterranean two-story set behind massive gates.

Built in 1989, the 6,683-square-foot house is, in a word, fancy. There's a high-ceilinged entry with travertine floors and stone archways, a paneled library/office and a family room wet bar with a temperature-controlled wine wall.

The giant gym should keep the buff musician from falling into disrepair. Bedrooms total six and bathrooms, six plus a powder room.

French doors throughout the remodeled home open to grounds that include a swimming pool, a sports court, manicured lawns, fountains, an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, patios, decks and walkways.

Michaels, 52, gained fame as the frontman for the metal band Poison starting in the early 1980s and also has several solo albums. His next solo album will be called "True Grit."

The property previously changed hands in 2001 for $3.49 million.

Jordan Cohen of Re/Max Olson Associates was the listing agent and Lynne Weiss of Coldwell Banker represented Michaels, the Multiple Listing Service shows.
