Receiver Allen Robinson has been the Bears’ most consistent offensive player, and he came through with his best game of the season in their 19-14 victory Sunday against the Giants.
Robinson caught six passes for 131 yards and a touchdown and increased his chances of producing a 1,000-yard season significantly.
‘‘It’s just about finishing strong — not even me personally, but helping this team push through all the adversity,’’ he said. ‘‘It’s always fun to have a game like that and have everything be clicking.
‘‘Throughout these last five games, [I’m] trying to have a few more games like that. Hopefully it transfers to some wins.’’
Robinson accounted for nearly half of quarterback Mitch Trubisky’s 278 passing yards, and Trubisky targeted him on 10 of his 41 throws. Trubisky had a 137.5 passer rating on throws to Robinson and a 46.0 rating when looking elsewhere.
Robinson boosted his season totals to 63 receptions for 764 yards and four touchdowns and now is on pace for 1,111 yards.
His day would have been even bigger had it not been for a brutal penalty by center Cody Whitehair early in the second quarter. Robinson beat Giants cornerback Sam Beal for a catch about 20 yards downfield, then took it another 40 yards. But the play was called back because Whitehair was whistled for illegal hands to the face.
Instead of being on the brink of the red zone, the Bears sat at third-and-18 from their own 8-yard line.
‘‘It’s frustrating whenever you have any play that’s negated, but you’ve gotta move on and make more plays,’’ Robinson said. ‘‘Stuff like that happens. There could be a flag almost every play.’’
Robinson jump-started the Bears coming out of halftime, too. After a first half in which the Bears managed three points, he caught a 23-yard pass to get them across midfield on their first drive and spun cornerback Corey Ballentine around on a 32-yard touchdown catch to give them a 10-7 lead.
It was the 11th 100-yard game of Robinson’s career and third since joining the team. No other Bears receiver has cracked 80 yards in a game this season.
