The star-studded 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions just got brighter.
An A-list crop of special guests and performers, from Paul McCartney to Taylor Swift, will help inductees take their place in music history at the Oct. 30 ceremony that’ll air three weeks later.
McCartney will induct the Foo Fighters, WarnerMedia said in its announcement Monday. Angela Bassett will induct Tina Turner, with performances by Christina Aguilera, Mickey Guyton, H.E.R. and Bryan Adams. Swift will induct Carole King, with performances by Swift herself and Jennifer Hudson. And Drew Barrymore will induct The Go-Go’s.
Lionel Richie will induct Clarence Avant for the Ahmet Ertegun Award, which honors “non-performing industry professionals who, through their dedicated belief and support of artists and their music, have had a major influence on the creative development and growth of rock & roll and music that has impacted youth culture.” Avant, known as the godfather of Black music, is a former chairman of the board of Motown Records.
JAY-Z and Todd Rundgren are also being inducted in the performer category.
Kraftwerk, Charley Patton and Gil Scott-Heron will be honored with “early influence” awards and LL Cool J, Billy Preston and Randy Rhoads will receive musical excellence awards.
The ceremony will air on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max on Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
