Rock Cartwright thinks Adrian Peterson will still be ‘the guy’ for Washington

Former Redskin Rock Cartwright has spent over 10 years in the NFL as both a player and a coach. It’s safe to say that he knows what he’s talking about.

Cartwright thinks that Adrian Peterson will continue to be the man in Washington this season.

“Adrian Peterson’s gonna have to be your guy,” said Cartwright. “I think [Derrius] Guice, he’s gonna come on, he’s shown what he’s able to do and he’s going to be eager to get back out there coming off of the injury. But AP is going to be the guy going out there for Week 1, 2, 3.”

The Redskins backfield is stacked, as they have Guice entering the league with fresh legs as well as Chris Thompson ready to assume his role out of the backfield on third down. Still, there’s nothing quite like veteran leadership.

Peterson is coming off of a decent season where he rushed for over 1,000 yards at age 33. He has his sights set high for this season and believes that he still has a lot to give. It appears that Cartwright agrees.
