Rochelle Humes sends message to Holly Willoughby as she replaces her on ITV This Morning amid Alison Hammond announcement

Rochelle Humes has sent a short but sweet message to Holly Willoughby after it was revealed she would be replacing her on This Morning this week. Holly was due back on screens on Monday (April 17) following a two-week Easter break which saw her take time away from her presenting duties to enjoy the school holidays with her children.

However, the 42-year-old's planned return to the programme alongside co-host and friend Phillip Schofield, who hasn't been seen on-screen for three weeks after taking on an unexpecting extra week off, has been hit by a setback.

Holly revealed on Sunday that she had taken ill. The mum of three took to Instagram to inform that she may be away for the rest of the week after coming down with shingles. She wrote on the distinctive green This Morning logo backdrop: "Hi ...just to let you know I may be away for the rest of the week as I have Shingles," she said with frustrated-face emoji.

Holly added: "I'll be back as soon as I'm better. Huge Love." According to the NHS, shingles is an infection caused by the chickenpox virus that causes a painful rash. People should get advice from 111 as soon as possible if they think they have it.

According to the Shingles Support Society (SSS), red patches are usually the first sign of the rash appearing but there may also be itching, tingling or burning under the skin, pain around the area and “fluid-filled blisters” that burst and turn into sores before they dry out. Around 194,000 people in England and Wales get shingles every year, the SSS website said.

After Holly's announcement, This Morning confirmed that Rochelle would be stepping in to her presenting shoes as she makes her hosting return to the show for the first time in months. Sharing a picture of Holly, Rochelle and Phillip to their Instagram page, the ITV daytime show said: "Tomorrow at 10am on ITV1 and STV, it’s welcome back after the Easter holidays to Phillip and get better soon to Holly who’s off ill for a few days."

And they also confirmed that Friday host Alison Hammond would be back in the studio, writing: "Phillip and Rochelle have a packed show with Gyles and Camilla, John Torode, Josie, Dr Sara and a very special live announcement from Alison Hammond around midday!"

It wasn't until Monday morning (April 17) that Rochelle addressed her return to the show just days after jetting back from a luxury family break in Dubai with her husband Marvin and their three children as well as Marvin's bandmate Aston Merrygodl and his wife Sarah as well as their two sons.

Sharing a picture of a This Morning branded wall backstage at the ITV studio, former The Saturdays singer Rochelle, 34, wrote: "Looking after my girl @hollywilloughby seat this week..." She then added: "Get well soon," alongside a bouquet of flowers emoji.
