Sunderland are without Marc McNulty for their trip to Spotland to take on Rochdale in League One.
The striker had been in good form since joining the Black Cats on loan from Reading this summer, but suffered a minor hamstring injury in the victory over Portsmouth on Saturday.
Jack Ross will therefore have a decision on his hands, as he looks to repeat last season's victory away at Rochdale.
With Will Grigg still struggling, Charlie Wyke replaced McNulty early in the second half against Portsmouth. But the former Bradford man is still on the comeback from an injury suffered during pre-season and Ross will have a decision to make on whether Wyke is fit enough to start or not.

There will also be decisions to make elsewhere on the park. Do Alim Ozturk and Jordan Willis remain as centre-backs in a four-man defence?
