Two men were arrested this morning after a man was stabbed in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services raced to the scene at 4.30am in Littleborough, Rochdale and found a man in his 20s with minor injuries before he was taken to hospital.
Greater Manchester Police said he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in hospital receiving treatment.
Two other men, aged 26 and 30 years, were later arrested by police on suspicion of assault. One man is in hospital, while the other remains in custody for questioning. A further male, aged 22 years, was arrested on suspicion of affray. He is in police custody.
A police cordon spanning hundreds of yards has been put in place after a stabbing in the early hours of this morning.
They remain on the scene as witnesses say they woke up to sounds of someone screaming "armed police", the Manchester Evening News reports.
One neighbour named Lesley, who’s lived on the street for more than 20 years, told the newspaper that she was woken up by someone shouting “armed police”.
She then heard two loud bangs.
Images from the scene show several police vehicles are currently in attendance and officers can be seen guarding each end of the large cordon.
Forensics officers are at the scene.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 4.30am this morning (28 September) to a report of a stabbing on Whalley Avenue in Littleborough, Rochdale.
"Emergency services attended a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in hospital receiving treatment.
"Two men, aged 26 and 30 years, were later arrested by police on suspicion of assault. One man is in hospital, while the other remains in custody for questioning.
"A further male, aged 22 years, was arrested on suspicion of affray. He is in police custody.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
