Manchester City face competition for Rochdale teenager Kwadwo Baah after failing to complete his signing on transfer deadline day.
That is according to Dale manager Brian Barry-Murphy, who hailed the 18-year-old as one of the most talented players to play for the club.
City were strongly linked with Baah's signing on deadline day last week, with talk of a loan back to Rochdale until the end of the season as part of any deal. However, nothing materialised before the transfer window shut, and if City want to sign him they will have to wait until the end of the season, when his contract will expire at Spotland.
Speaking after Baah played 90 minutes in Rochdale's 2-0 defeat to Charlton in League One on Saturday, Barry-Murphy offered an update on City's interest in the winger - who has scored three brilliant goals in 14 appearances this season.
"He's probably one of the most talented wide players we've ever had at the club," the Dale manager said, explaining that City are not the only club interested in his signature.
"From my point of view, I understand the deal with Manchester City is still not completed so a lot of other clubs are monitoring that closely.
"It's not my job to drum up business for him or where he's going to go or drum up attention, I think he's had enough of that already. But I think it's far from concluded and I'm privileged to have him in our squad going forward because even today I thought most of our attacking moments were through him and at 18 that's great credit to him."
