The roof of a double-decker bus has been ripped off after it ploughed into a railway bridge, injuring most of its 25 passengers.
Seventeen people were injured - one of them seriously - and 11 people taken to hospital following the smash, in the centre of Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
Large numbers of "walking wounded" could be seen fleeing the bus after the smash on Milkstone Road, police said.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said that "many" of the 25 passengers on board were injured, though none is thought to be a life-threatening condition.
Some were said to have suffered head and facial injuries, including the seriously injured passenger who sustained a broken jaw.
