Robson Green celebrates with Sam Fender at St James' Park as Newcastle beat Manchester United

Robson Green and Sam Fender were both ecstatic at full time as Newcastle beat Manchester United at St James' Park on Sunday.

There was a full house at SJP as Eddie Howe's men looked to avenge their defeat to the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup final at the end of February, with three points on home turf. And that's exactly what they ended up with, thanks to very impressive 2-0 victory over their rivals.

Having been unlucky to go into the break without at least one goal, as a frantic clearance stopped Alexander Isak from putting Newcastle ahead, the Magpies finally got the lead they deserved when Joe Willock headed in after 65 minutes. It was another header that sealed the win for United, when Callum Wilson got the second in the 88th minute.

There were wild celebrations when Wilson's goal went in and again when the final whistle was blown. Among the many fans who stayed in their seats to applaud the NUFC players at the end were Robson and Sam. Seventeen Going Under star and Brit winner Sam filmed the team going over to fans, on his Instagram story before shouting: "Robson GET IN!" Former Soldier Soldier and Wire in the Blood actor Robson then turned round and shouted back at Sam.

Newcastle's win put them ahead of Man United and up into third in the Premier League table, giving their hopes of European football next season a big boost.

Once this season is over, it will be Sam who is the big draw at St James' Park, when him and his band take to the pitch for two sell out shows on June 9 and 10.
