Wednesday's recap: Rangers 6, White Sox 5

May 12--Mat Latos gave up five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings as the Rangers topped the White Sox 6-5 on Wednesday afternoon at Globe Life Park.

Sox third baseman Todd Frazier left the game in the bottom of the fourth inning after he dived into the stands to try to catch a foul ball from Prince Fielder. Frazier rushed back to the Sox dugout with his glove over his face and reached for a towel.

Carlos Sanchez entered the game at third base in place of Frazier, who suffered a laceration to his lower lip that required five stitches. The Sox announced that he is day to day.

At the plate

Frazier and Brett Lawrie each hit fourth-inning homers off Rangers left-hander Cole Hamels. Frazier's solo shot was his 10th RBI of the series, and Lawrie's two-run homer into the Sox bullpen drove in Melky Cabrera, who had singled.

On the mound

Latos gave up two runs in the third inning, on Ian Desmond's RBI single and Nomar Mazara's sacrifice fly for a 2-1 Rangers lead. He issued two walks in the fifth inning, and Prince Fielder's two-run double to left field tied it.

In relief

Latos left a runner on third with one out in the sixth inning. After Sox left-hander Dan Jennings recorded the second out, he gave up three straight singles as the Rangers pulled ahead.

The quote

"It's always tough to lose a game like that. The one thing these guys have is the ability to put it behind them and focus on that day. There are no worries there. These guys are ready to play. Guys were here early and ready to go. That's the plus of having a lot of veteran guys. They put it behind them and get going." -- Sox manager Robin Ventura on his team trying to bounce back from a tough loss Tuesday.
