Robin van Persie shares what he likes most about Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Arteta's Arsenal

Former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie has heaped praise upon young forward Gabriel Martinelli following his superb start to life in North London.

The teenage has excelled since establishing himself in the first-team frame, scoring 10 goals in all competitions so far in his debut season with the Gunners.

That has seen him establish himself as one of the most exciting prospects in European football, while he provides plenty of optimism for the coming years alongside fellow starlets like Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson.

Among those to have had their eye caught by Martinelli is Van Persie, who has already spoken several times this season about his liking of the forward.

With his most recent comments, he also highlighted the improvements that he has seen at Arsenal since Mikel Arteta succeeded Unai Emery as manager.

"Yes, I am a big fan of Martinelli," he told BT Sport. "I watched the game against Chelsea live where he scored a great goal.

"When you're that young and that deadly, for me he's a really good player and nice to watch.

"What I like about Arsenal in general is that you can see the change in the last few months, there's more intensity, there's more joy, and it's nice for the eyes, nice to look at them."
