Liverpool's current standing is down to their transfer policy which has highlighted players who compliment Jurgen Klopp's playing style, claims Robin van Persie.
The Dutchman doesn't feel as if Manchester United can say the same though having seen a host of big names arrive without being able to deliver.
Liverpool found themselves 37 points clear of United before the Premier League's suspension.
Klopp has slowly built over his four-and-a-half year tenure by adding players who can implement his fast-paced style.
United on the other hand have thrown money at recruitment without any real strategy and it has failed to deliver.

Van Persie told So Foot: "If you compare it to Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp was appointed and players were selected who fit in with the football philosophy, not from marketing motives.
"They built the club on a coach's sporting project. At Manchester United they bet on stars like Paul Pogba and Alexis Sánchez. "
"That's one way. It is risky. If such a player gets injured or does not fit, the whole team is vulnerable. While having a philosophy like Liverpool and not Manchester United creates enormous collective power.
"The challenge for Man Utd is to see if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can successfully establish a philosophy, his own.”

The Norwegian has attempted to put a transfer strategy in place having overseen one summer transfer window since arriving.
Solskjaer wants to fill his United side with young, homegrown talent which led to them adding Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire.
The policy is also behind their interest in the likes of Jadon Sancho, James Maddison and Jack Grealish - all three of whom could join in the coming months.
Klopp himself slowly built his all-conquering side at Anfield by adding the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Alisson in successive summers.
