Robin van Persie explains why Sir Alex Ferguson was a better manager than Wenger and Van Gaal

Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has named Sir Alex Ferguson as the best manager he played under during his career.

The Dutch forward spent years working under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, as well as being led by the likes of Louis van Gaal at both club and country.

However, neither can compare to Ferguson in his eyes as he praised the United legend for his ability to keep a squad happy and completely focussed.

In comparison, he said Wenger was more of a mix between Ferguson and Van Gaal, adding that the latter was a tactical genius.

“Ferguson really was a super manager. It was so brilliant how he always kept the entire squad happy and focussed," he wrote in 'LVG – The Manager and the Total Person'.

“Wenger was a combination of Ferguson and Van Gaal. Arsene always emphasized all the positive things and he looked at what would work for the long term.

“Tactically he (Van Gaal) is a genius. You can’t deny that. I have had managers who had their own strengths. But Ferguson really was a super manager.”
