Robin Propper Rangers transfer exit confirmed as defender returns to former club

Robin Propper has completed his Rangers transfer exit.

The centre-back has left Ibrox to rejoin former club FC Twente.

Dutch defender Propper, 31, had left Twente, where he was club captain,n to seal a move to Rangers in 2024.

The stopper was a regular first-team member under Philippe Clement but his involvement has been limited since the Belgian was dismissed.

Propper returned to Twente after a protracted process with the deal having stalled for a period due to the offer at Twente being less lucrative than his Ibrox terms.

It's understood those issues were resolved to allow the defender to complete a transfer this summer.

Russell Martin confirmed a transfer offer had been accepted for Propper during pre-season.

It comes after Twente technical director Jan Streuer threatened to move on from Propper unless a deal could be agreed after a protracted process.

He said: "All sorts of factors beyond your control (dictate transfers). Just before last season, our captain Robin Propper left at the last minute.

"We really missed him. Rangers bought him. A top Scottish club. You can't compete with them.

"Now there's a new manager at Rangers, he might play less. Then he might be able to return.

"But he'll want to wait and see first if he actually plays less. We have to decide: do we wait for that or do we see what happens next?"
