Robin Olsen hope after Carlo Ancelotti's shock Everton exit

Robin Olsen still hopes to turn his Everton loan move into a permanent switch despite Carlo Ancelotti’s sudden departure.

Olsen joined the Blues on loan from AS Roma on deadline day in October and Ancelotti was soon talking of signing the goalkeeper on a long-term contract.

The Italian had, initially, hoped to conclude a deal in the January transfer window but ended up shelving the plans until this summer.

But Ancelotti’s shock exit on Tuesday appears to have thrown all transfer plans up in the air.

Olsen‘s deal with Everton officially ends on June 30 and the club today confirmed he would be returning to Roma as it stands.

Around the same time as Everton confirming their releases and retained list, quotes from Olsen surfaced, with the stopper insisting he was not focused on his club future but, instead, preparations for the European Championships with Sweden.

But the ECHO has been told that the 31-year-old still hopes to return to Everton next season as a permanent member of the squad.
