Robin Olsen admits 'tough' Everton month after break-in and 'strange' injury

Everton goalkeeper Robin Olsen has admitted he endured a 'tough' month after he was the victim of a break-in at his home in March.

Olsen was reportedly held at knife point in front of his wife and two young children and "marched around his home" by the masked raiders after they crashed into his house in Altrincham.

The shot-stopper, on-loan from AS Roma for the campaign, also suffered a 'strange' injury which ruled him out of five matches before he returned in the absence of Jordan Pickford for draws against Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively.

The 31-year-old told evertonfc.com : “To be honest, it was a tough month for me. I had an injury and another incident. It was hard.

“But it has been nice to get all the support from the club, the players and the fans. Now I am playing, I am back, so it is good.

“It was two strange injuries [for Olsen and Pickford], almost the same injuries as well. It was an injury where I just needed to recover. I couldn’t go to the gym or the pitch, only rest, and that was hard.

“I always want to help the team, everybody has the same feeling, so it was frustrating. I am used to training hard every day. Then to get an injury where you just need to rest, it is difficult.”

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken publicly of his desire to retain Olsen on a permanent deal at the end of the season but Everton are yet to make a definitive call on his future.

The Swede has made 11 appearances in all competitions this term.
