Robin McBryde's next move revealed with Wales coach set to land Guinness PRO14 job

Wales forwards coach Robin McBryde looks odds on to join Leinster after the World Cup.

The European champions are expected to need a new scrum chief, with the incumbent, John Fogarty, tipped for a job with Ireland.

Earlier this month, McBryde was reported to be a leading candidate for the Leinster post, along with Hurricanes scrum specialist Dan Cron.

And it now appears the 37-times capped former Test hooker is set to get the nod.

McBryde has been part of the Wales coaching set-up since 2006, first working under Gareth Jenkins and then spending more than a decade as an assistant to Warren Gatland.

He has shared in three Grand Slams and a further Six Nations title in his role overseeing the forwards.

He’s also acted as Wales caretaker coach three times while Gatland and Rob Howley have been away with the Lions.

During his most recent stint as acting head coach, in the summer of 2017, he was at the helm for wins over Tonga and Samoa.

Now 48, the former Swansea and Scarlets front row man has been considering his options post World Cup.

And it seems he will be heading for Dublin.

Leinster have been in the market for a new scrum coach, with Fogarty set to replace Greg Feek in that role with Ireland after the World Cup.

Fogarty will work under Andy Farrell when the current Irish defence coach takes over the reins from national boss Joe Schmidt.
