Robin Lopez used a hilariously unexpected Muppets metaphor to sum up the awful Nets’ Big 3 era

Everyone has thoughts on the blockbuster trade that sent former Nets star Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns.

But no one summarized their thoughts better than Cleveland Cavaliers big man Robin Lopez, who offered the most insightful analysis that one could possibly want from an NBA peer.

Lopez and his twin brother, Brook, bring fourteen years of pro experience. During their time in the league, they have seen it all, so they have a unique perspective.

Here is what Lopez had to say when he reflected on the fallen era in Brooklyn that once featured Durant alongside Kyrie Irving and James Harden:

According to Lopez, this is “just like” that time in The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) when The Muppets “split up and leave Manhattan” after “unsuccessfully attempting” to take Manhattan.

This a very astute observation from Lopez, who named his dog Muppet.

This tweet from Lopez, by the way, is far from the first time that he has tweeted about the Muppets. Some of his other greatest hits on the topic:

Lopez, who says his favorite Muppet is Gonzo, finally gives us an answer to a fundamental question about basketball.

If we were to replace the entire league with Muppets but leave one player exactly the same, Lopez should be the one to remain as a human.
