Robin Lehner's spectacular 48-save effort can't bail out Blackhawks in a 3-0 loss to the Predators

NASHVILLE _ Robin Lehner deserved to take a bow. The rest of the Blackhawks deserved what they got.

Lehner was often miraculous in stopping 48 shots as he put on a master class in goaltending Tuesday against the Predators. But Nick Bonino slipped goals past him in each period to give Nashville a 3-0 victory at Bridgestone Arena.

After putting up five goals Sunday, the Hawks stayed with the same lineup but returned to their offensively-challenged ways by getting shut out for the second time in three games to fall to 3-6-2.

The loss to kick off a four-game trip left the Hawks 0-3 on the road this season. They were outshot 51-20.

The Hawks' power play continued to struggle with two in the first two periods that failed to net a shot on goal. They haven't scored a power-play goal in 21 opportunities over six games and dropped to 3-for-34 this season.

The Hawks didn't look tired and weren't careless with the puck in the first period when they were outshot 19-6. The Predators just looked faster, more talented and were relentless as they pummeled Lehner before Bonino's first goal on a rebound with 2:04 left in the period.

Bonino's second goal came under similar circumstances midway through the second when he pushed back another rebound to make it 2-0. His final goal again came on a rebound, this time off Lehner's mask to give him the third hat trick of his career.

On each of his goals Bonino was untouched in front of the net, the first as Erik Gustafsson stood close by and the second with Duncan Keith failing to clear him out. It was Gustafsson again who stood nearby as Bonino made it 3-0 with 16:20 left in the third.

The Predators followed their 19-shot first period with a 21-shot effort for a 40-14 shot advantage through the first two periods. Lehner had several highlight-reel stops, the best coming late in the second when he slid far to his left to rob Viktor Arvidsson with a pad save.

The Hawks had few scoring chances. Jonathan Toews hit a post late in the first period but finished with his sixth straight game without a point. He has one goal and one assist in 11 games this season.
