Robin Koch has confirmed his exit from Freiburg ahead of an imminent move to Leeds United.
The Whites are set to secure the 24-year-old as a replacement for Ben White after admitting defeat in the race for the Brighton defender.
Leeds have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £13million for Koch, who was pictured on his social media on a flight, which is believed to be heading for Elland Road.
The Whites head to Anfield on the opening day of the Premier League season, in two weeks' time, with Liam Cooper as their only senior recognised centre-back, although Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips can both deputise in that role.
That further underlines the importance of Koch, who will sign on the dotted line with Leeds very soon.
Koch himself has confirmed his departure from the Bundesliga club in a passionate farewell message after three years with Freiburg.
Writing on his official Twitter page, Koch said: "3 Years @scfreiburg. 3 Years that mean a lot to me.
"I am incredibly grateful for this time, these experiences, these friendships, these games in front of these fans in this city.
"Thanks to everyone who has supported me and helped me develop further and feel at home. I will definitely keep these years in good memory forever.
"Now is the time for a new task. I very much hope that we will see each other again sometime. Thank you for everything and only the best. Your Robin."
