Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival 2020 cancelled due to Covid-19

Organisers of a popular beer and cider festival in Nottingham have announced its cancellation following "continuing uncertainty" over the coronavirus pandemic.

The Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival was due to be held in November at the Motorpoint Arena, with organisers Nottingham CAMRA initially "determined" to make sure it took place.

The festival usually takes place in October, but it was moved back in order to assess ongoing guidance from the Government on social gatherings and distancing.

However, following last week's announcement on the 'Rule of Six' and what organisers describe as "continuing uncertainty", running the festival was deemed "a risk too far".

Announcing the cancellation "with great sadness", the Nottingham CAMRA assured festival-goers that it will take place in 20201 - back in its traditional October dates.

Steve Westby, Nottingham CAMRA chairman, said: "Unfortunately, the risks of hosting this year’s festival now appear too great with the threat of national or local infection rates leading to lockdown at a moment’s notice causing irreparable damage and inconvenience."

The festival follows suit of other popular, mainstay attractions in the city to announce their cancellation due to the pandemic.

The most notable is the Goose Fair, with organisers revealing last month that it would not take place for the just the ninth time in its 729-year history.
