Robertson admits Rangers Europa League final beam back at Ibrox 'very unlikely'

Stewart Robertson admits Rangers Europa League final beam back at Ibrox 'very unlikely'

STEWART ROBERTSON has revealed it is "very unlikely" that a Europa League final beam back will be held at Ibrox next week.

Thousands of Rangers fans are set to head to Seville next week for the final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

But with UEFA urging those without tickets to remain in Scotland, questions were posed over a possible event at Ibrox for fans to watch the game together.

But Robertson explained it's unlikely to come to fruition due to staff traveling to Seville and not being able to man what would be a large-scale event.

Speaking to the media this afternoon, the Ibrox managing director said: "It's very unlikely as most of the staff we'd need to run such a beam back are going to be in Seville so I don't think that will happen.

"As much as we understand the desire of fans to be in one place together to watch it, I don't think that's going to be physically possible."

It comes as Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed Kemar Roofe missed Rangers training today as he looks to be back fit for the final next week.

The striker hasn't featured since the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic but it's hoped he'll be fit enough to feature in Spain.

Offering an update on his condition, Van Bronckhorst said: "Roofe is not training with the team at the moment but he is doing everything he can to be ready.

"Hopefully he can make some positive steps in the coming days."
