Roberto Lopes has been deemed a close contact of a confirmed coronavirus case.
But the Shamrock Rovers centre-back is expected to be available for Sunday’s FAI Cup final at Aviva Stadium (6.40pm).
Lopes, who had been away on international duty for Cape Verde, was set to play for Rovers in yesterday’s FAI Cup semi-final win over Sligo Rovers.
But Hoops boss Stephen Bradley revealed: “‘Pico’ was in the team up until yesterday when we got a message from the HSE saying he has to quarantine.
“Someone on his flight two weeks back got it, but they don’t know where the person was sitting so everyone had to quarantine, it’s incredible.
“The worry is it was November 18th or 19th and we travelled away to Finn Harps (in the FAI Cup quarter-final) and he was in the dressing room.
“Then you found out last night. Unbelievable. But he will be back training on Wednesday or Thursday.”
Midfielder Greg Bolger came off the bench yesterday for his first appearance since breaking his leg in a July friendly against Wexford.
But the Wexford man must sweat it out to see if he lands a spot in Sunday’s FAI Cup final squad.
Bradley said: “He worked extremely hard since the injury and I’m delighted to get him back on the pitch.
“The only thing in the head about next weekend would be legs, in terms of a big pitch but in terms of tackling, moving and playing, he’s ready.
“We’ll have to see how the bodies are. Aaron Greene couldn’t play today as he had a knock.”
