Roberto Firmino out and Diogo Jota starts as Liverpool team confirmed for Atalanta clash

Diogo Jota starts in place of Roberto Firmino for Liverpool as they travel to Atalanta in the Champions League.

Rhys Williams makes his first start in Europe's premier competition as he partners Joe Gomez at the back for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Curtis Jones keeps his place in the midfield three alongside captain Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum as Klopp looks to make it three straight wins in Group D tonight.

Jota is named in the front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as he aims to become just the second Liverpool player to score in his first two starts in the Champions League after Robbie Keane in 2008.

Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson complete Liverpool's back five with an 11-man bench that includes Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi and Naby Keita, who returned to training earlier this week.

Joel Matip, who hasn't played since the Merseyside derby in mid-October, is on the bench also alongside Academy graduates Caoimhin Kelleher, Jake Cain and Neco Williams.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, R Williams, Gomez, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones; Salah, Mane, Jota.

Subs: Adrian, Kelleher, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Minamino, Tskimikas, Shaqiri, Origi, Matip, Cain, N Williams.
