Roberto Firmino hits back after Roy Keane rant at Liverpool and Manchester United tunnel interaction

Roberto Firmino has responded to Roy Keane's pre-match rant ahead of Liverpool's meeting with Manchester United on Sunday.

Keane was furious with players from both clubs before the 1-1 draw was played out at Old Trafford.

The former United skipper was angered by the amount of hugging and chatting that took place in the tunnel ahead of kick-off.

Keane slammed the two sides over their pre-match conduct, admitting they should have been 'preparing for war' rather than exchanging pleasantries.

"I'm disgusted with players [scenes in the tunnel]. You're going to war, they're hugging and kissing," Keane said on Sky Sports.

"Don't even look at the opposition. You're going into battle against them.

"The game hasn't changed that much, the players have changed. You're going to war against these players and they're hugging each other.

"Chat to them after the game, or don't even chat to them after the game."

Firmino, who greeted his Brazilian compatriots Fred and Andreas Pereira ahead of the Premier League clash, has hit back at Keane's comments.

The Liverpool forward told ESPN Brasil: "I don’t want to create controversy with anyone.

"I find it quite normal before the game to greet each other, ask how they are doing. That’s all. Nothing more than that.

"But on the pitch, they aren’t friends, each one defends his club to the best of his ability. Then the rivalry increases on the pitch."
