Roberto Firmino concerns dismissed after 'incredible' Liverpool forward gets his reward

Jurgen Klopp has praised "incredible" Liverpool matchwinner Roberto Firmino as he dismissed concerns the forward had become affected by his goal drought.

Firmino marked his 150th Premier League appearance for the Reds on Saturday by netting the late decider in the 2-1 Premier League win at Crystal Palace.

Only his fourth strike of the campaign, it ended a nine-game stretch without a goal - his longest such run for Liverpool in almost four years.

Firmino only returned to England on Thursday having featured, along with Anfield team-mates Alisson Becker and Fabinho, for Brazil in their 3-0 friendly win over South Korea in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday night.

And Klopp said: “His workrate is incredible. On Thursday he was on a plane and we were thinking in the afternoon about what we could do.

“Then the players arrived, some of them flew over night for six, seven, eight hours... that's not cool. We expect a lot from the boys.

“I'm completely fine with what I saw against Palace and for him, wonderful that he finally gets the reward for that.

“He could have scored another one (at 1-0), that was a big chance. But I'm completely fine with that."

Klopp admits he had no idea when Firmino had last scored before his Palace strike.

“He wasn't becoming anxious at all," he said. "To be honest, we haven't spoken about it.

"I wouldn't have a clue when he scored last time, I didn't think about it. Who scores the goals is absolutely not important.

“We'd have to ask him how he felt, but I didn't see anything. But it's all good."
