Roberto Firmino has expressed his delight at signing for Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli after the expiry of his contract at Liverpool.
The 31-year-old's time on Merseyside came to an end upon the conclusion of the 2022-23 season after eight years at Anfield. It was an emotional farewell for the Brazilian forward as he made a timely contribution scoring the equaliser against Aston Villa before netting in the 4-4 draw with Southampton on the final day of the season.
Firmino decided not to extend his stay beyond an eighth year on Merseyside despite the intentions of Jurgen Klopp to retain his services. It was reported by German media that the former TSG Hoffenheim striker didn't enter negotiations with other clubs when the window became open in January out of respect to the Reds.
Throughout the summer, he has been pictured in the gym getting up to speed ahead of his time in new surroundings and last week, he was confirmed as the latest arrival in the Saudi Pro League.

On Friday, he trained with his Al Ahli teammates for the first time. Taking to Instagram, Firmino broke his silence on his happiness at signing for the Saudi First Division champions.
"First training with my team mates," he wrote. "I’m so happy to being part with this amazing club @alahliclub.sa. Vamosss."
The 31-year-old followed the likes of Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Ruben Neves to the region as Saudi Arabia looks to create their own super league. Cristiano Ronaldo ended his torrid second spell with Manchester United in January and made the move to Al Nassr.
He will also come up against Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard after the former Aston Villa and Rangers boss was unveiled as the Al Ettifaq manager.
