The front three are getting fingers pointed at them and quite rightly so because you’re paid to score goals.
You’re on a lot of money to score goals and you have to do it. Centre-forwards have to score one in every two games basically and they’re not doing it.
It dumbfounds me. A team that is free-scoring the way Liverpool are, to go from one extreme to the other. We were all worried about the defence but the defence have been brilliant.
Henderson was fantastic, Fabinho was brilliant, the goalkeeper was brilliant. Them three have been brilliant. We’re not conceding goals, only a couple in the last few games.
It’s the attacking part and the front three have lost their mojo.
Mane looks a threat, more so than Salah or Firmino. They look a pale shadow of the players we know they can be.
I think Luke Shaw is bang-average but was made to look like a world-beater at the weekend.
Salah, whether it was his confidence, did not want to go by him. He didn’t get past him, he got nothing off him.
He looked like he was intimidated by him but he shouldn’t be because he is one of the best players in the world.
The ball isn’t falling for them and the confidence isn’t there. The chance that Firmino had, that’s a gift. You just smash through that and you score.
Do you think Liverpool should drop Roberto Firmino? Let us know in the comments section below...
It just shows when the confidence is down, the play isn’t great, that you snatch at things as well. It’s really worrying.
For whatever reason, they're not creating chances. We played some good football and were the better side against Man Utd but they created chances.
Our best chance was Firmino. For all the huff and puff, you look at West Brom, Man Utd, Southampton, if we were still playing we still wouldn’t have scored. We didn’t look like scoring at all.
We never looked like scoring against Southampton. Newcastle, no.
That’s the worry. If you’re missing sitters and hitting the woodwork and the goalkeeper is pulling off magnificent saves, but I can’t really remember many in the last couple of games.
The West Brom keeper pulled off a couple, Newcastle too, but it’s not many. Other than that, they’re not having to make saves from us. That’s worrying.
Midfield need to offer more in Jota's absence
It wasn’t what we expected at the weekend. There was a lot of good play in the first half but it was just the same story as in recent games against Southampton, West Brom and Newcastle away.
They’d get to the 18-yard box and there was no cutting edge upfront.
Is it coincidental that, Crystal Palace apart, while Jota ’s been injured, the lads haven’t been at it. Is that coincidental or is it a burden on them or are they taken it for granted that they’re going to play every game.
I don’t know. It’s not helped the situation. At the time Jota got injured, he was probably our best striker. There’s no other alternative here because who can take their places? Minamino perhaps? It can happen subconsciously.
The final ball could be better at times and we could get one or two more players in the box. A lot of balls are coming in, especially from the full-backs, where there is only one or two forwards in the box. Three at most.
One of the midfield players needs to get in there to give us an opportunity because teams have got eight, nine and even ten men in there at times. It makes it so hard from crosses to get anything on them.
Title concern
I’m concerned about our title-chances all of a sudden. People are saying it’s going to turn itself around and I previously thought it was too.
But my main worry now is our away form. It’s mid-table standard. Our home results if we get things right could look after themselves but away from home it’s pretty drastic.
Can we start winning games away from home? We had the opportunity at Newcastle away in particular, Fulham, Brighton and we haven’t done it.
And now we have the big boys coming up, that’s my worry.
You don’t become a bad team overnight but the lads have got to realise how good they are.
It doesn’t matter who is playing centre-half, we’ve still got a very good side and a really good midfield and a really good, talented front-line but we need to get ourselves back in the race.
All of a sudden Jurgen is talking about top four. And when was the last time Everton could be above us at this stage of the season in January, if they win their game in hand? That’s not happened for a long time.
The manager can only do so much. It’s the players themselves and the forwards in particular have got to want it. That’s where we are at the moment.
