Roberto Firmino 'agrees' to join Barcelona as forward set to end eight-year spell at Liverpool

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is reportedly set to join La Liga giants Barcelona upon the expiry of his current deal at Anfield this summer.

The 31-year-old will become a free agent in June and has fallen further and further down the pecking order on Merseyside so far this season, following the signings of both Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.

Starting just twelve Premier League games this term, the former Hoffenheim man is set to end his eight-year association with the club and link up with Xavi's squad in time for the 23/24 campaign, according to the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian is currently out of action due to a hamstring injury but it is thought he will return before the Reds' final home league game of the season against Aston Villa on May 20.

Firmino has so far scored 109 goals in 360 appearances for Liverpool, and has honours including the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Club World Cup to boast whilst with Klopp's side.

Having joined from Hoffenheim back in 2015, Firmino has been an integral part of Liverpool's success ever since Klopp's appointment in the very same year and he last scored in the Reds' 2-2 draw with Arsenal earlier this month.

Klopp has insisted on many occasions how he has tried to keep Firmino at the club beyond this summer, but it seems Firmino, much like Sadio Mane, is set to seek pastures new and play his football away from Anfield next season.
