Roberto De Zerbi offers Liverpool hope with Alexis Mac Allister future admission

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has conceded star players are likely to be sold this summer despite his side enjoying an outstanding season.

Continuing to punch above their weight, the Seagulls are on course to secure European football for the first time in their history after beating Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. One point clear of seventh-placed Tottenham Hotspur with two games in hand, Brighton look set for Europa League football and could even overtake Liverpool before the campaign is over.

Adapting to the mid-season departure of manager Graham Potter in impressive fashion, Brighton have become accustomed to their assets being poached by others having cashed in on players such as Ben White, Marc Cucurella, Leandro Trossard and Yves Bissouma in recent times.

History is expected to repeat itself this summer as clubs begin to circle for star performers including Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo. The former is an individual who has emerged as a priority transfer target for the Reds in their search for midfield reinforcements and De Zerbi has made clear Brighton are bracing themselves for the likelihood of the Argentine exiting alongside Caicedo.

"Of course, we will lose some players - maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister," said the Italian after his team's victory at the Emirates. "We have to be ready to bring in another good players. The others, for Mitoma and Estupinan, I think for them the best solution is to stay with us. I don’t know if they are ready to play in the big teams, you can explain better than me to ‘play in a big team.’ We can offer them the possibility to progress and improve.

"We have to improve in mentality, we are not used to playing three games per week. We won a fantastic game with Manchester United and after four days we played against Everton and didn’t use the victory against Manchester United. We started the game with the same shirts of the game against United, and I think this is the most important part to improve."
