Roberto Carlos makes two wild claims ahead of Liverpool against Real Madrid

Roberto Carlos believes Mohamed Salah "won't even get close" to Sergio Ramos when Liverpool face Real Madrid in the Champions League next month.

The Reds were drawn against the La Liga giants in the quarter-finals of the competition on Friday, in what is a repeat of the 2017/18 European Cup final.

That match, which Madrid won 3-1 after two calamitous errors from goalkeeper Loris Karius, was marred when Los Blancos captain Ramos fouled Salah in the 22nd minute - prematurely ending the Egypt superstar's involvement in the showpiece event after his stunning 44-goal season.

"Salah is not even going to get close to Sergio," Carlos said. "It will be an action that is going to be talked about a lot."

The Madrid legend also stressed how important it will be for Madrid to get a good result in the first-leg at home against Jurgen Klopp's side but believes the Premier League champions should be the most worried side.

"We are going to play against a good team," he told AS .

"The first game is at home, Real Madrid's momentum is great and they must decide the tie at home.

"The important thing is that Zidane has all his players ready, that they come back as quickly as possible. It is easy for him to be a coach here because he has the best at his disposal. If a game does not go well, he has eight players of the highest level waiting to play. You have to be concerned with Liverpool, but they more."

Former Brazil international Carlos finally analysed the role Thiago Alcantara has played at Anfield this season.

"Liverpool used to be a ball for the forwards and Thiago has arrived with his quality," he added.

"He begins to play and the teammates have not adapted to his style of play. The problem is not Thiago, it is the change in style of teammates that they were used to. play with balls."
